Pre-spawn largemouth on drop offs near spawning areas
With a breeze blowing and heavy cloud cover in place most of the day, conditions were perfect for Jim D'Ambra to drag his Carolina Rig along drop offs just outside of key spawning areas.  Jim is a master at determining the exact bottom composition and depth that is holding the biggest fish, and he demonstrated that ability by landing 19.68 lb of Wequaquet Largemouth, winning the tournament by over 1-1/2 lbs.  Jim got his first bite early and when he set the hook into a Wequaquet stud, he knew it was going to be a good day.  After a steady stream of big fish throughout the day, including the tourney lunker at 4.75 lb, Jim culled up to his winning weight and sealed the deal.  Congratulations to Jim D'Ambra for a great victory.

Last years winner, Matt Allen, showed why he's the reiging AOY, landing 18.04 lb of Largies to lock up second place.  Matt sight fished beds all day and brought in a very impressive bag.  Mike Elson was only able to bring four fish to the scales, but at 13.50 lb they were enough to capture third place.  Rounding out the top five were Bill Barrett with 11.95 lb and Chris Finnie, fishing as a co-angler, with 11.20 lb.  Congratulations to all of the winners and to all of the club members who did battle on Wequaquet Lake.
