 2016 B.A.S.S. Eastern Regional

May 4-6, 2016
B.A.S.S. Eastern Regional
Douglas Lake - Dandrige, TN

Day two started well for Jim D'Ambra as he quickly landed two solid fish, positioning himself to make a move up the leader board.  But, moments later, Jim suffered a massive engine failure and had to slowly troll his way three miles back to the ramp.  His hopes for a day two comeback were dashed by mechanical problems that were out of his control, but Jim said he still had a great time and looks forward to getting back to another regional in the future.  Wally Balchunas had a solid second day, bringing in a three fish limit of 4 lb 11 oz giving him a two day total of 8 lb 6 oz.  That total was good for fourth place among Massachusetts co-anglers.  Congratulations to Jim and Wally for making it to the B.A.S.S. Nation Eastern Regional and for proudly representing Southshore Bassmasters against some of the best weekend anglers in the country.

It probably wasn't the limit that Jim D'Ambra was looking for, but he managed five fish for 7 lb 14 oz to land in fifth place among Massachusetts anglers and 102nd overall.  With a full field of almost 180 boats, Jim is holding his own on unfamiliar water.  Wally Balchunas also brought in a limit (three fish for co-anglers) weighing 3 lb 11 oz putting him in fourth place among Mass anglers and 104th overall.  On Day Two, both Jim and Wally will be working to move up the leaderboard among the Mass anglers, as the top three Boaters and Non-Boaters from Massachusetts will fish Day 3.  The top Boater and Non-Boater from each state after Day 3 will advance to the B.A.S.S. Nation National Championship with a chance, from there, to make it to the Bassmasters Classic.  Good luck tomorrow to the boys from Southshore!
