Winning Pattern
Jigs, Neds, and Carolina Rigs for Smallmouth in 10 - 30 ft

With winds blowing over 25 mph and waves breaking over the bow, it was a day that tested man and machine.  And, when Ed Robak turned in 19.60 lb of Smallmouth to take home the first place trophy, everyone assumed that he had found that "special spot" and just loaded the boat in one area.  Given the conditions, that would have been an impressive feat, but even more impressive was the fact that Robak didn't have one honey-hole, but had to run a number of spots to cull up to his winning weight.  Staying mostly within the Inland Sea, Ed probed 18-30 ft depths with a combination of Football Jigs, Ned Rigs, and Carolina Rigs and then hit grass lines in 8-15 ft, followed finally by rocky banks in about 10 ft.  His persistence paid off, however, as he landed 19.60 lb of Smallies including the day's lunker at 4.60 lb.  His final weight was not only enough for the victory, but also landed him in fifth place on the All-Time 1-Day Limit list.  Congratulations to Ed Robak for a great victory and a record-setting performance.

Fighting the good fight with two very solid bags of Smallmouth, the Wheeler boys landed in 2nd and 3rd place just slightly behind Robak.  Bob Wheeler landed a stout bag at 17.49 lb to lock up second place while Brian was not far back with 16.60 lb.  Congratulations to the Wheeler's for great performances under less than ideal conditions.
