Winning Pattern
Ned Rig & In-line Spinner in shallow back waters

Dan Marini dared to be different and it paid off big time!  With recent rains causing a high water level and strong current in the main river, Marini sought out calm, quiet back waters and worked them thoroughly.  The bite was tough so Marini broke out his go-to "finicky" bass baits; a Ned Rig and a 20 year old In-line spinner.  With everyone else using more typical baits, Marini's decision to go full-finesse was genius.  Throwing both lures in and around shallow cover landed him 10.18 lb of Charles River largemouth which was more than enough to take home the first place trophy.  And, this victory was extra special for Marini as it was his first club win after years of second and third place finishes.  Congratulations to Dan Marini for a great victory!

Continuing his streak of recent success, Rob Bell landed in second place with 8.64 lb.  Bell fooled his four with soft plastics thrown into shallow cover and had an impressive average weight for the Charles River.  He was one fish shy of a limit and might have stolen the victory had he been able to fill out his five.  In the last three tourneys, Bell has finished second, first, and second making a strong push up the AOY leaderboard during the second half of the season.  Congrats to Rob Bell for continuing his streak of top finishes.

Up next is Long Pond Harwich, the last tournament of the year which will determine the final standings in the 2018 AOY race.  Stay tuned to see how it all plays out.
