Winning Pattern
Spinnerbaits and crankbaits up shallow

In a slugfest, everyone looks like a hero and one lucky bite can push you over the top.  But when the fish have lock-jaw and it's a true grinder, it takes confidence and experience to stick it out long enough to get a few more bites than the other guys.  And that's exactly what Bob Wheeler did, throwing spinnerbaits and crankbaits up shallow all day to grind out two key bites for a total of 3.12 lb of Harwich smallies.  Having won Harwich tournaments in the past with over 19 lbs, Bob's hopes weren't too high as he brought his two fish to the scales.  But, no one else was able to land even 3 lb, so Bob Wheeler claimed the victory and bumped himself into third place overall in the club standings.  Congratulations to Bob for a great win under the most difficult conditions imaginable.

Landing in second place was Rookie-of-the-Year James Marino.  His two-fish sack went for 2.56 lb puting him solidly in second place, more than half a pound in front of third place finisher Brian Ware.  Marino threw a lipless crankbait all day to fool his two smallies, and proved once again that he will be a force to be reckoned with in coming years of club competition.  Congratulations to James Marino for another great finish, and to all the SSBM club members who fought the good fight at Long Pond Harwich.
