With the water level at an all-time high, Mike Elson's game plan was simple.  Go shallow and stay shallow!  But, when his plan failed to produce any bites in the first hour of the day, he knew what he had to do...go shallower!  Pitching a D-Bomb just shy of the shoreline into heavy grass and pads, Elson found a few decent fish that were hold up in 12" of water or less.  Add to that a solid keeper off a boat lift and Elson was able to cull up to his winning weight of 8.94 lb.  Congratulations to Mike Elson for a great victory!

Mike Drake took an opposite approach to the tournament but also found success.  Drake fished finesse baits around offshore rock piles and landed 8.81 lb of largemouth.  Despite coming up just short of the win, Drake was happy with his day as he had only two fish for two pounds at 1:45 pm.  Making a key decision to move to a new spot earned him a solid limit just before weigh-in and almost had him standing in the winner's circle.

Joe Goyette takes the honorable mention, as his third place finish at 8.61 lb came on only four fish!  Unfortunately, he wasn't able to land that fifth fish that would have easily given him the win.  But, it was a strong performance nonetheless and a solid finish for Joe Goyette.  Congratulations to the top finishers and to all the club members that braved the rain on Long Pond Lakeville 2023!
