Heading into the 2024 club tournaments at Lake Champlain Ticonderoga, Jim D’Ambra‘s plan was to run north for Smallies. But with the water looking like chocolate milk, the Smallie bite was off and D’Ambra was forced to scramble into largemouth mode. Then the real problems set in as his primary largemouth spots didn’t produce a single fish. Junk fishing for the last two hours of the day produced only an 11 lb bag that put Jim in sixth place for the 1-Day tournament and left him wondering what to do on Saturday.

With Friday’s mess behind him, D’Ambra dedicated himself to largemouth for the 2-Day tournament. Running north again but this time focusing on both offshore weed and shoreline cover D’Ambra sacked a 19 lb bag of green fish. Knowing he was on to something, Jim used a combination of moving bates and finesse presentations to sack another 19 lb bag on Sunday. With Mike Elson almost 3 pounds behind him, D’Ambra’s two day weight of 38.22 lbs was more than enough to seal the deal. It also put Jim in the number two spot for all time 2-Day Weight in club history. Congratulations to Jim D’Ambra for a great victory and a record setting performance!

Also deserving a mention, the tourney lunker, a 5.92 lb hawg, was turned in by James Marino who finished third with 32.73 lbs.  Congratulations to all the top finishers and to all of the club members who slugged it out at Champlain Ti 2024!
