The weather on Friday for the SSBM 1-Day tourney was not great.  Wind and rain affected most people's spots and made fishing difficult and sometimes miserable.  Justin Canada was no different for the rest of the club, and his Friday turned out less than stellar.  But, with changing conditions comes changing fortunes, and Saturday brought bright sun and light and variable winds.  Canada was finally able to get to, and effectively fish, his offshore Smallie spots and they certainly produced!  Using a variety of techniques including a drop shot, damiki rig, and a football jig, Canada was able to load the boat with 17.86 lbs of Smallies.  His bag included a 4.66 lb giant, that took over the top Smallie Lunker spot for the season so far.  With none of the 19+ lb bags from Friday showing up on Saturday, Canada's 17.86 lbs was more than enough to put him solidly in first place.  And, when high winds caused the cancellatoin of Day 2, Canada was awarded the 2-Day Trophy.

Finishing a close second to Justin Canada was Reece Trottier and although their weights were close, their techniques couldn't have been further apart.  While Canada worked deep humps for Smallmouth, Trottier was pitching and flipping dirt shallow into bullrushes and dragging out big largies on 50 lb braid!  Throwing jigs deep into shoreline cover, Trottier landed 16.49 lbs of Champlain Largemouth including a 4.68 lb slaunch that took lunker for the day.  Congratulations to Justin Canada and Reece Trottier for different, but equally impressive, performances!
