Senko's on docks and isolated weed clumps

Joe Trottier started the 2025 season with a win at Monponsett Pond under the worst possible conditions.  He followed that up with a solid 4th place finish at Mashpee Wakeby.  And then, he dropped the hammer at John's Pond with a victory that puts him fully in the driver's seat for the 2025 AOY race.  

Fishing under considerably better conditions than his first win at Mopo, Joe Trottier and his non-boater Reece Trottier (his son), put together a phenomenal day on the water with over 26 lbs combined.  Fishing docks, overhanging brush, and isolated weed clumps with wacky senkos, their method was basic  but their results were fantastic.  After wacky-rigging their way to bags full of 3 lb largemouth, they temporarily switched up their technique in search of a true kicker.  But, nothing produced like the senko, so they put everything else away and finished the day the same way they started.  And that decision paid off with a win for Joe and a strong 4th place finish for Reece.  Congratulations to both Trottier's for two great performances.

Not to be outdone, Thom St. Michel bagged 14.75 lb to land in second place just behind Joe Trottier.  After spending nearly 2 hours searching for smallmouth and coming up dry, St. Michel switched to largemouth.  He caugh a decent one off of a sunken log and that started a pattern of fishing hard cover in 8-12 ft of water.  Any logs, sticks, or rocks seemed to be holding decent largies, and St. Michel was able to trick them with a texas-rigged creature bait and a jig.  Isolated weed clumps were also in the mix, and by the end of the day he had landed a solid bag that was just shy of first place but impressive nonetheless.

Kevin White also showed out with a decent 12.34 lb bag, good for third place, that included a 5.38 lb hawg largie which is now the season lunker to beat!  Congratulations to Thom St. Michel and Kevin White for great finishes and to all of the SSBM club members who slugged it out on John's Pond 2025!
