Spinnerbaits and Texas Rigs in isolated grass
It's always fun to have a good day fishing, but it's even better when it happens to be a tournament day! Kevin White had a "blast" at Wequaquet Lake on Friday by mixing old school with new school to grab his second win of the 2025 season! Fishing isolated grass patches in 8'-12' of water with a 1oz Spinnerbait and a Texas Rig, White caught fish throughout the day and put together a decent limit. Then he broke out the FFS Minnow, moved to slightly deeper water, and targeted some big girls on his forward looker. Culling up a few times, and landing a solid 3.24 lb kicker, gave White 12.21 lbs for the day which was just enough to lock up the win.
Jim D'Ambra did his best to catch White but came up just a few ounces shy, landing in second place with 12.01 lbs. Like White, D'Ambra also caught his fish in offshore weeds, but he did it using his signature Carolina Rig. Catching 2 lb bass all day with no big ones to be found had D'Ambra thinking that he was in trouble, but it turned out to be a tough bite all around and his bag was more than enough for a solid second place finish. Congratulations to Kevin and Jim for their top finishes, and to all the club members who did battle on Weququet Lake 2025!
